Korg Volca Bass From The Volca Series

The Volca Bass boasts three tuneable analogue oscillators and a custom filter, generating a wide range of bass and lead sounds. Sequence oscillators individually or in unison, sync with other Volcas or studio equipment, or create basslines anywhere—its battery power and built-in speaker make it perfectly portable

Electribe-inspired sequencing meets powerful analog bass synthesis for effortless bassline creation.

The Volca Bass is an analog bass groove box delivering aggressive, fat, and funky sounds perfect for a diverse range of basslines. Its simple yet powerful analog engine produces a uniquely nuanced sound impossible to replicate digitally, ideal for acid house and beyond. The intuitive Electribe-derived step sequencer empowers effortless creation of inspiring, freeform bass loops.

Three true analog synthesizers, each with a built-in sequencer, for crafting ultimate analog leads, basses, and rhythms.

Building on the success of the Monotron, Monotribe, and MS-20 Mini, Korg introduces the Volca series: three compact, true-analogue instruments for EDM production. The series includes the Volca Keys lead synth, the Volca Bass synth, and the Volca Beats rhythm machine, each offering rich, distinctive sounds achievable only through analogue circuitry. All boast built-in sequencers for intuitive performance creation, sync capabilities via vintage-style in/out jacks, and MIDI connectivity for DAW integration. Portable and versatile with battery power and integrated speakers, the Volca series delivers powerful, expressive analogue sound wherever inspiration strikes – whether used individually or together as a dynamic ensemble.

Powerful, presence-rich bass sounds generated by three analog oscillators.

This synthesizer's three oscillators generate the rich, modulated tones characteristic of analog synths. Use them in diverse ways: as a unison for powerful bass, or as three-part chords for complex textures. Create intricate bass lines by sequencing each oscillator individually, weaving three distinct phrases together. Alternatively, combine two oscillators at a low pitch for the bassline and one at a higher pitch for a melody. Finally, for thick unison sounds, slightly detune the three oscillators; for chords, set their pitches to 0, +3, and +7.

Korg's legendary analog filter delivers bright, crisp audio.

Specifically tuned for the Volca Bass, this analog filter delivers versatile sound shaping. Open the Cutoff knob for brighter, expansive tones; close it for a rounder, milder sound. The Peak knob controls resonance, offering a clean peak at lower settings and evolving into rich distortion at higher settings—perfectly tailored for creating the signature acid bass sounds.

A simple synthesiser architecture featuring one oscillator (VCO), one amplifier (VCA), one low-frequency oscillator (LFO), and one envelope generator (EG).

In addition to the three VCOs, the Volca Bass provides a carefully selected parameter structure consisting of a single VCF, VCA, LFO, and EG, ensuring that the sound that you want can be created intuitively. This is also the standard structure of a synthesizer, making the Volca Bass an ideal introductory instrument for learning the fundamentals of synthesizers - the enjoyment of creating your own sounds.

Loop sequencer distilled from the Electribe

The Electribe's step sequencer

Effortlessly edit and improvise with this step sequencer. Its 16 step keys provide intuitive note entry with visual timing feedback. Create unique phrases for each of the three oscillators, or record in real time using the touch panel keyboard. Store up to eight sequence patterns internally.

Slide function that’s indispensable for EDM

The Volca Bass makes creating acid basslines easy. Its distinctive, "sticky" pitch and filter are hallmarks of analog synths, and the Volca Bass's per-step slide function seamlessly connects notes, generating classic acid sounds effortlessly.

Active Step function generates new bass lines by removing or inserting step.

Active Step lets you skip steps during sequence playback, creating short loops or unexpectedly irregular rhythms for dynamic, improvisational performances.

Convenient functions for ease of use - Self-tuning function overcomes pitch drift

Until now, the problem with analogue synthesizers has been that the pitch would drift with changes in temperature or the passage of time. The Volca solves this by providing a Self-tuning function that constantly tunes the oscillators. You'll never need to tune during a performance, or wait for the pitch to stabilise after turning the power on.

SYNC jack and MIDI IN connector allow synchronised performances with multiple units or with your DAW

By using the sync jack you can enjoy synchronised playback with multiple Volcas or with a Monotribe. You can also use the "SyncKontrol" iPhone app to wirelessly control tap tempo, swing settings, and synchronised playback with iOS music apps via WIST.

The MIDI IN connector lets you synchronise with other devices as well as play the Volca from your MIDI keyboard. You can also send note messages from your DAW and use the Volca as an analogue sound module.

Portable and battery-powered, the volca's compact design and built-in speaker let you perform anywhere!
